Are You A Distracted Driver?

How many times have you been driving along only to notice the person in front of you drift from side to side on the road? Or maybe they've been driving at a good speed then suddenly slow down for no apparent reason? You name it I'm sure we've all seen it. Distracted driving whether it be a driver texting, talking on a cell phone, messing with the radio, yelling at the kids...the list can go on and on...I had a ferret once and unfortunately I did not really enjoy the smelly little pet (Don't get me wrong they are adorable and incredibly smart) so I had found someone to take him but I had to deliver him, so we packed him in his cage I put my three year old in her car seat next to the cage and off we drove right??? WRONG! First the cage part had come unhooked from the bottom when I had put it in, of course I did not notice this till we were well on our way because my daughter was screaming that it was out. I feared that it would scratch her all up but instead the cute little fuzzy critter decided to come hang out with me...ha ha...OH YES! as I drove down the road I had a ferret on my lap..then my shoulder... then my head.. and I will be the first to admit that yes I was distracted between the ferret, my daughters screams and laughter and worrying it would pee everywhere I hardly paid attention to the road and I am sure that my radio was on as well...ha ha now the best part of the story is that I was living in a foreign country at the time and we were driving on the opposite side of the road as well..how's that for distracted??? ha ha Now maybe you've never had the ferret incident happen to you but you know what I am talking about. Have your kids ever been fighting and you are watching them more than the road? Or you answer a call on your cellphone? Or maybe the radio station you were listening to just turned to nothing but talk? Or maybe just maybe it's been a long day and you are just tired...................Every single one of those things makes you a distracted driver. What happens if the car in front of you slams on their brakes and your not paying attention? Or someone steps off the curb and you didn't see them? I see it every day and I know you do too..Our cellphones and any other electronic gadget is a huge distraction so please I beg you to limit use of your phone while driving to emergency situations only, DO NOT TEXT WHILE DRIVING!, put in a favorite CD when on the road, and set rules for your children when in the car. You might get lucky and swerve and miss an oncoming car but a telephone pole or tree might mean instant death for you and your family is that worth it? And above all don't drive with ferrets...EVER!! Stay Safe :)
